Hosting words, explained.

Every word you see in the dashboard and the guides, explained in one paragraph each.

VPS (virtual private server)

A virtual machine with its own CPU, memory and disk, which you fully control. On VibingView, every workspace is one VPS reserved for one customer.

Related: Workspace

Workspace

VibingView’s name for a customer’s server (VPS). A workspace can host any number of apps and managed databases on the same server, and is paid per billing period.

Related: VPS (virtual private server), App

App

A project you deployed, running as a container on a workspace. It gets a free HTTPS address, can have custom domains, and keeps its last three builds so you can roll back.

Related: Deployment, Rollback

Deployment

One build and start of an app from a version of its code. A deployment only succeeds when the container keeps running and answers on its port.

Rollback

Switching an app back to an earlier saved version (image). It does not roll back database contents, volumes or secrets.

Docker BuildKit

The Docker build engine used by the workspace agent. It keeps dependency layers in a cache, so unchanged dependencies rebuild in seconds.

Railpack

An open-source build planner that turns a project without a Dockerfile into a container image. VibingView uses it as one of its build methods.

Caddy

The web server in front of your apps on every workspace. It sends each address to the right container and gets and renews HTTPS certificates automatically.

Free address (generated hostname)

The address every app gets when it is created, such as my-app-1a2b3c4d.apps.example.com. It works over HTTPS before you add any custom domain.

Custom domain

Your own domain pointed at an app. The DNS record itself proves the domain is yours, because each workspace has its own address.

Managed database

PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis or MongoDB running as a container on the workspace’s private network. It is not open to the internet by default.

Wallet

Prepaid credit in euros, used to pay for workspaces and their renewals. Card payments are handled by a merchant of record; crypto is accepted too.

Billing period

The prepaid period of a workspace: 1, 6 or 12 months, with a discount on longer periods. If you cancel, the unused part comes back as wallet credit.

MCP (Model Context Protocol)

An open standard that lets AI editors use tools. VibingView’s MCP connector lets editors such as Claude Code and Cursor look at your resources and take deploy actions you allow.

Account key

The API token every account has for the CLI and the MCP connector. It can deploy and configure apps, but it can never delete data, reveal secrets or spend money.

Environment variable

A setting given to a container when it starts. Values are stored encrypted and are never written into the build or the image.

Core Web Vitals

Google’s page-experience measures: Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift. A server of your own helps keep them steady when traffic grows.

Serverless

A model where you pay per request, per gigabyte and per second of function time instead of for a fixed machine. Cheap with no traffic; unpredictable during attacks or runaway loops.
